contratiempo invites you to celebrate our tenth year of accomplishments with the gifts of food, drink, literature, art, music and dance from the Caribbean.

We are honored to feature as keynote speaker, Dominican author and multidisciplinary artist Rita Indiana Hernández, one of Latin America’s most innovative artistic voices, in Chicago for the first time!

Chicago’s funkiest live musicians ¡ESSO! Afrojam Funkbeat, the sounds of pan-Latin American cumbia Dos Santos: Anti-Beat Orquesta and the vintage Latin sounds of vinyl of (((SONORAMA))) Djs, the culinary experience of Sobremesa Supper Club from 7pm-8:30pm and drinks all night.

Since 2003, contratiempo provides readers with a multifaceted perspective on the arts, literature and culture produced by Latino artists in Chicago and across the United States, offering unparallelled cultural coverage. Support us and promote this cultural work!

Funds raised at the event will be used to support continued publication of our beloved revista contratiempo.
